Do you remember when your Tupperware and plastic storage bowls looked brand new? It was probably just before the first time you used them, after that they became stained and you were sure they would never be the same again. If you've ever stored any sort of tomato based food in a plastic bowl or Tupperware type dish, you know what I'm talking about. Vegetable soup, spaghetti sauce, etc. can leave terrible stains on plastic that won't come off no matter how hard you scrub. It's embarrassing to take a dish to someone's house that is stained, they might think you didn't wash it well, before you know it, everyone is talking about you!
I've heard that lemon juice and other home remedies will take these stains off but I don't really know how well they work and besides, this method is so easy, why would you want to waste the lemons?
All you need to do is put your stained bowls outside in the sun or in front of a sunny window for a few hours and the stains magically disappear. Kick off your shoes and when hubby calls, tell him you're cleaning the dishes! Most stains come out in a few hours of sunlight, there is no need to scrub or put any sort of solution or soap on them. Your bowls will look brand new and your hands never had to touch water.
Nothing has ever been this easy to clean! Let Mother Nature do the work and while you're cleaning your bowls, put your feet up, take some of that lemon juice and have yourself a nice cold glass of lemonade instead! You won't ever have to worry about food stains again, this tip works on anything stained with tomato based food. Now, if I could just figure out a way to get the sun to clean the bathroom!
